The Mighty Moose Hunts: Hunt #2

This second hunting trip was much closer to Tawni's & Kent's place - up near Palmer at a place called Rabbit Slough. Kyler went with Kent & Roger again on this trip.

This is how you hunt from the creeks and rivers and sloughs in Alaska .....

It's hard to see in this picture, but the guy up on the ladder (the better to see over the brush along the edge of the bank) had a hose that he talked through to keep in touch with the one who was driving the boat. Now Roger & Kent think they need a different boat - one big enough to spend the night in out in the middle of the water, safe from the bears on shore!

They did see a moose, and tracked through the swampy ground to get fairly close, but she wasn't a legal one.

While they were drifting on the water they had their fishing poles busy, so came back with several nice ones. I'd much rather eat fish than moose myself, so I was happy with what they got!
