Alaska Trip Trivia

This will be the last Alaska trip 2008 post, but I thought you might enjoy some "facts and figures" from the trip. Roger figured all this out -- not something I would have spent time on myself, but interesting none the less!

You have to bear in mind that we made the trip when the cost of fuel just happened to be at its very highest :( Not ideal, but it's when the trip was planned for, way in advance!

Left home July 30, arrived at Tawni's August 4 -- 6 days travel time
Total miles going north (from our house to Tawni's): 2901
Total Driving time (his truck figures this): 58 hours 11 minutes
Most miles driven in one day: 565

Miles put on the truck while in Alaska: 2469

Left AK September 2, arrived home September 10 -- 9 days travel time
Total miles coming home: 3366
Total Driving time: 70 hours 54 minutes
(going home by way of Fairbanks, added extra miles and time)
Most miles driven in one day: 567 1/2

Total miles for entire trip: 8727

Total gallons of diesel used: 623

Most expensive fuel: Fort Nelson, BC $6.12/gallon (converted)
(it was the most expensive last year, too!)
Least expensive fuel: Reedsport, OR $4.11/gallon

Average MPG: 14
Average cost per mile: $.37 1/2

And there you have it!!
