Chicken, Alaska (current town)

The official sign - with lots of stickers all over it. Must have been some 3-year olds come by -- isn't that about the age where little girls love to put stickers all over everything they see?!


The Post Office was up on a little hill, just past the community sign. Mom mailed a letter from there. It's kept up really nice, with lots of flowers (and an old out house out back!).


This was across the parking area from the Post Office, and appeared to be a community center


Down the road a bit is the sign post for the 3 current business areas - don't want you to get lost!

This business also owns the original townsite of Chicken. Normally they offer tours, but were short of help the day we were there so didn't have any tours scheduled. However, the nice young man said if we promised not to go inside any of the buildings, we could go over and take pictures, and he told us how to find the trail that let back into the woods. The next blog will have those pictures...
